The next pack meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 6th at 6:30pm at Hallock City Hall.
Meeting Agenda
- Guest speaker: Bob Blaeuer, our new District Executive, will be at the meeting. Please be sure to attend this meeting to help welcome our new District Executive!
Fundraising updates! We want to outfit all our boys with shirt uniforms but will need some creative fundraising and a commitment from everyone to actively participate to get the job done!
- Raingutter Regatta - Joey, Rickey and the family enjoyed a sample of the Raingutter Regatta at the Scout Exposition in Thief River Falls on Sunday, April 25th. This is something our scouts would really enjoy.
- Refreshments provided by Joey Wolfe.
- No skit or song due to our guest speaker.
It's time to plan our Spring and Summer activities. We need to get several dates planned at the May 6th meeting.

- Blue Gold Banquet for Weeblos moving up to Boy Scouts
- Fishing Derby at Lake Bronson
- Troop Camping at Lake Bronson - in conjunction with Fishing Derby???
- Day Camp
Pinewood Derby NewsSee the special message from Linda:
PINEWOOD DERBY that was originally set for April 29 is postponed. When a date is set, we will let you know. Please go ahead and work on your cars to be ready when we find a good date. If you don’t have means to cut it out, call me. There will also be a work night in order to work on and/or finish up your cars. You can get a preliminary weight. Remember to read the directions that came with the kit on height and weight specs. If anyone needs a kit yet, call Linda; or she will have them at her work if you are in Hallock at anytime. Linda at 218-843-3373 (W), 843-2038 (H).
There were many Derby cars at the Scout Exposition. Some were traditional while others had more character. It can be quite confusing to a new scout when creating their first Pinewood Derby car. Here are some tips to help keep things fun and get you started.
There were many Derby cars at the Scout Exposition. Some were traditional while others had more character. It can be quite confusing to a new scout when creating their first Pinewood Derby car. Here are some tips to help keep things fun and get you started.
- Work with your scout and decide on a theme or style. Do you want a car that looks like a bus? Traditional race car design? Heavy in the front? Light in the back? Grooved with aerodynamics in mind?
- Incorporate your scouts ideas into the the car design. They will get more out of the process if their opinions are used.
- Let your scout do as much of the work as you deem safe. Most scounts can sand and paint the cars. An adult will need to cut out the car and help assemble the wheels but older scouts may be able to help with some of those tasks too.
- Remember to weigh the car and all it's pieces BEFORE you paint and assemble it. It will be easier to modify the weight if the wheels are not assembled. The last thing you want is to deconstruct your car (and risk damage) to alter it's weight or dimensions. (Please see the directions included in your car kit for the detailed specifications each Pinewood Derby car must meet to be eligible to race.)
